Coverage & Roaming

DMTS is active on its new Network in the greater Dryden area, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, and Fort Frances. DMTS has roaming on the Rogers National Network in Canada and TMobile in the US.

This year local network will extend to Hwy 17, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout Highways.

By the end of April 2010 Hwy 11 and 71 should be complete. See New Tower Map.

2010 will see additional build-out, but is in the planning stage. Watch for updates.

DMTS will continue to establish Roaming Agreements as requests come in for service in unserviced areas.

Cellular Coverage

It is not possible to clearly identify a company’s coverage area as there are many factors involved, some of which are variable. Coverage involves the weather, the terrain, and the cellphone’s output power. The best way is to look at your cellphone to be see the signal status (are you roaming, at home, or somewhere where there is no service), and also the signal strength.

Cellular Roaming

When you are outside the Dryden Mobility coverage area Another Provider will be displayed on your cellphone if you are within the coverage area of an affiliated cellular service company. You will then be able to use your cellphone as a ‘Roamer’ just as you would use it at home — you can dial any telephone or cellular number in the world. If you are not within the coverage area of an affiliated cellular service company your “No Service” will be displayed.

Dryden Mobility is a member of the GSM Association. Visit www.gsmworld.com

When you use your cellphone there will be a roaming airtime charge and, in certain circumstances, long distance charges, and also sometimes a daily charge, generally less than $6.00 be on their system as a roamer whether you make/receive a call or not. The roaming airtime charges are not as uniform as in Canada so it will vary in different locations.

Making Calls as a Roamer

For a local call, dial the [10-digit number you wish to call] + SND. There will be no long distance charge but there will be the roamer airtime charge.

For a toll call, dial 1 + [area code] + [the 10-digit number you wish to call] + SND. Long distance charges do apply in addition to the roamer airtime charges.
